ABSTRACT

All too frequently, the media bombards the Ghanaian public with the news about the advantages and disadvantages of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) education policy rolled out by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under the leadership of His Excellency, the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo in September 2017.

The development of every nation depends on the quality of education provided and how effective the educational structures available are used to translate educational policies into actions.

This thesis highlights the rationale behind the formulation and implementation of the Free Senior High School Educational policy, its impact on the Ghanaian society/economy, identifies policy gaps, if any, and recommends measures to fill the gaps to achieve optimum results.
